LMS Walk-Through Training Video | Camtasia
📌 Overview
As part of a SaaS company-wide launch of a new Learning Management System (LMS), I developed a series of walk-through training videos to guide users through essential navigation and features. This video series supported a broader change management and training initiative aimed at ensuring a smooth transition for all learners—employees, contingent workers, partners, and managers.
Two distinct video tracks were created:
General User Training: For all learners accessing the LMS for the first time
Manager Training: For users with elevated access and functionality
These videos introduced key platform features, demonstrated navigation paths, and provided practical, scenario-based guidance to help users confidently engage with the system.
🧩 The Challenge
One of the core challenges in developing these videos was navigating platform constraints—certain features could not be enabled or hidden for training purposes, which made content planning and script accuracy particularly nuanced. Additionally, because the system allowed multiple navigation paths to reach the same feature, determining a “happy path” for training consistency and learner clarity was critical.
Another major consideration was creating training that could scale across diverse user types while remaining relevant and streamlined. Planning for variation without redundancy was key to success.
âś… The Solution
The solution was a tightly coordinated, phased training plan that included:
Video walkthroughs tailored to each user group
Storyboards used to ensure script alignment and later repurposed for process documentation by another instructional designer
Feedback-informed revisions, following UX testing sessions with participants across departments
Thumbnail and interface design elements that visually supported learning and could scale seamlessly across various screen sizes and LMS views
All assets were intentionally concise and visually engaging, helping users feel confident navigating the new platform from day one.
